<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Museo de Málaga</strong></h3>

<p>Malaga&#8217;s most significant museum showcases the rich historical and artistic past of the region.</p>

<p>Located next to the cathedral, the museum is housed in the Palacio de la Aduana, a magnificent neoclassical building with ornate columns and sculptures.</p>

<p>It consists of two main sections: the archaeological and the fine arts collections:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>The archaeological section has a rich collection of artifacts from the Phoenician, Roman, Arab, and Christian eras, depicting the history of <a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/andalusia-attractions/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Andalusia</a> and especially the Malaga region.</li>

<li>The fine arts section houses masterpieces of <a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/best-places-in-spain/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Spanish</a> painting from the 19th and 20th centuries, with a special focus on local and regional artists.</li>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Picasso Museum</strong></h3>

<p>The famous artist, Pablo Picasso, was born in Malaga, so it was only natural that a museum would be opened in his honor.</p>

<p>Since 2003, it has been welcoming visitors in the Buenavista Palace, which was established through the initiative of Picasso&#8217;s granddaughter, Christine Ruiz-Picasso, and her husband, Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, who donated a significant number of artworks to the collection.</p>

<p>Its collection includes over 200 Picasso works, covering the artist&#8217;s entire career. These include paintings, drawings, sculptures, and ceramics, showcasing the evolution of Picasso&#8217;s style and techniques. The collection includes both early and late works of the artist.</p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Museo del Automóvil y la Moda de Málaga</strong></h3>

<p>This museum presents the world of cars and fashion, highlighting the key trends and technological developments of the 20th century.</p>

<p>The idea for the museum came from the <a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/best-places-in-portugal/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Portuguese</a> businessman Joao Magalhaes, who spent many years collecting rare and special cars and fashion pieces. The museum aims to show the parallels between the automotive and fashion worlds and how they have influenced each other over the past decades.</p>

<p>It features over 90 historic vehicles, including classic and racing cars, rare luxury models, and masterpieces from famous manufacturers like Bugatti, Ferrari, Rolls Royce, and others. The fashion collection is equally impressive, comprising more than 200 pieces, including haute couture dresses and accessories from significant 20th-century fashion designers.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Museo del Vidrio y Cristal de Malaga</strong></h3>

<p>This museum showcases the history and traditions of glass and crystal art.</p>

<p>The museum was established by Gonzalo Fernández-Prieto, a passionate collector and expert committed to glass and crystal art.</p>

<p>Its collection includes more than 3,000 pieces, ranging from antiquity to the 21st century. The exhibited items include blown glass, engraved and painted crystal, and rare glass creations, representing various eras and styles. The collection is particularly rich in 18th and 19th-century pieces, including elegant Murano glasses and intricately crafted crystals.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Museo Carmen Thyssen Malaga</strong></h3>

<p>This art museum primarily focuses on Spanish painting, with special attention to Andalusian art.</p>

<p>The museum was founded based on the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection, initiated by Baroness Carmen Cervera, the widow of Count Thyssen-Bornemisza. Opened in 2011, its aim was to showcase the baroness&#8217;s private collection, which spans 19th-century and early 20th-century Spanish paintings.</p>

<p>The works include creations from the Romantic, Realist, and Modernist periods, featuring landscapes, cityscapes, and social scenes. The museum displays works by famous Spanish painters such as Sorolla, Zuloaga, and Romero de Torres.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares de Málaga</strong></h3>

<p>This museum exhibits local traditions, folk art, and customs, including the rich cultural past and present of the region.</p>

<p>The museum was established with the goal of documenting and presenting the region&#8217;s folk culture, as traditional ways of life were increasingly disappearing due to modernization and urbanization.</p>

<p>The collection includes traditional clothing, household items, agricultural tools, and products of local crafts such as ceramics, leatherwork, and textile art. It places particular emphasis on depicting the historical social and economic life of the region.</p>

<p>This museum, dedicated to promoting and supporting contemporary art, is actually a community venue.</p>

<p>It does not have a permanent collection; instead, it focuses on varied and dynamic temporary exhibitions that showcase the latest trends and directions in contemporary art. The exhibitions include paintings, sculptures, photography, video art, and digital art, featuring works by both international and local artists.</p>

<p><strong>Malaga, a hub on the Sunny Coast, is popular with tourists. Not surprisingly, the city has much to offer besides good weather!</strong></p>

<p>Malaga is the 2nd largest city in <a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/andalusia-attractions/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Andalusia</a>. Located at the heart of Costa del Sol, or the Sunny Coast, it is a favored tourist destination known for its excellent wines, mild climate, and abundant sunshine. One of the most popular destinations in <a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/best-places-in-spain/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Spain</a>.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/malaga-where-we-can-escape-in-winter/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Read my photo report about Malaga!</a></p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center"><strong>Malaga attractions</strong></h2>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Castillo de Gibralfaro</strong></h3>

<p>One of Malaga&#8217;s most famous attractions is the castle perched above the city, offering visitors a stunning panorama.</p>

<p>Originally built on a fortress constructed by the Phoenicians, it was later used by the Romans and Arabs. The current fortress, constructed by the Moorish dynasties in the 14th century, is named after the Gibralfaro hill, also known as &#8216;the mountain of torches&#8217;.</p>

<p>The fortress comprises two main parts: the upper section, which includes the royal palace and military barracks, and the lower section, which served to protect the city and port. The castle offers a beautiful view of the city.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s a small museum in the castle showcasing historical artifacts, weapons, and other military memorabilia, highlighting the fortress&#8217;s rich military past.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="900" height="600" src="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-castillo-de-gibralfaro.jpg" alt="View of the city at sunset" class="wp-image-1292" srcset="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-castillo-de-gibralfaro.jpg 900w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-castillo-de-gibralfaro-300x200.jpg 300w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-castillo-de-gibralfaro-768x512.jpg 768w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-castillo-de-gibralfaro-585x390.jpg 585w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-castillo-de-gibralfaro-263x175.jpg 263w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">View of the city at sunset</figcaption></figure>
</div>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Alcazaba</strong></h3>

<p>Not far from the castle is another city landmark, notable for its architecture.</p>

<p>Built in the 11th century during the Islamic Moorish rule, Alcazaba served to protect the city. Over subsequent centuries, it underwent significant modifications under Christian kings. It has been the site of numerous sieges and wars. It served not only a military purpose but also as the residence of local rulers.</p>

<p>Its architecture is typically Arab, with archways, decorated walls, and garden designs. The interiors are filled with finely carved marble columns, ornate arches, and colorful ceramics, characteristic of Moorish architecture.</p>

<p>It also houses a small museum displaying archaeological findings and artifacts from the Moorish period.</p>

<p>All information can be found <a href="https://www.alcazabamalaga.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here</a>!</p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Cathedral</strong></h3>

<p>Located in the old town, the cathedral is often referred to as &#8222;La Manquita&#8221; meaning &#8222;The One-Armed Lady&#8221; because of its tower.</p>

<p>Construction of the cathedral began in the 16th century on the site of a former Moorish mosque. The work continued for centuries, mixing different architectural styles, including Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements. Construction interruptions throughout history mean the cathedral was never completed, for example, one of its towers was never built, hence its nickname.</p>

<p>The exterior is imposing, especially its massive, decorated main façade and the tall, but unfinished southern tower. The size of the cathedral and architectural details like the carved portals and statues are impressive. The interior is characterized by high vaults and colorful stained glass windows.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="900" height="600" src="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-cathedral.jpg" alt="One of the cathedral's towers is not finished" class="wp-image-1293" srcset="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-cathedral.jpg 900w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-cathedral-300x200.jpg 300w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-cathedral-768x512.jpg 768w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-cathedral-585x390.jpg 585w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-cathedral-263x175.jpg 263w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">One of the cathedral&#8217;s towers is not finished</figcaption></figure>
</div>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Centro Cultural La Malagueta</strong></h3>

<p>Like every major Spanish city, it has a bullfighting arena.</p>

<p>Built in 1876, it long served as a venue for traditional Spanish bullfights. In the early 21st century, city authorities decided to transform the building into a cultural center to promote modern art and cultural events.</p>

<p>The building&#8217;s design is typical of traditional Spanish arenas, with its unique oval shape and distinctive red bricks. Its exterior retains the historical arena&#8217;s features.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="601" src="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-malagueta-arena.jpg" alt="The arena is now a cultural centre" class="wp-image-1294" srcset="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-malagueta-arena.jpg 900w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-malagueta-arena-300x200.jpg 300w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-malagueta-arena-768x513.jpg 768w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-malagueta-arena-585x391.jpg 585w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-malagueta-arena-263x175.jpg 263w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">The arena is now a cultural centre</figcaption></figure>
</div>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Mercado Central de Atarazanas</strong></h3>

<p>A visit to a local market is a must in Spain!</p>

<p>The market offers a wide range of fresh, local products, from seafood to traditional Spanish foods like ham, cheese, and olive oil. It&#8217;s a great place to explore local gastronomy and buy, taste fresh and authentic Spanish dishes.</p>

<p>The building itself is beautiful: built on a shipyard, one of its main gates has been preserved. The arabesque archway at the main entrance is a reminder of the site&#8217;s Arab past.</p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Parque de Málaga</strong></h3>

<p>This park, in the southern part of the old town along the coastline, was developed at the end of the 19th century.</p>

<p>It is home to various trees and flowers, including rare tropical and subtropical species. Notably, the Paseo de los Curas promenade is lined with numerous statues and monuments.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" src="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-parque-de-malaga.jpg" alt="You can also see this magnificent building in the park" class="wp-image-1295" srcset="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-parque-de-malaga.jpg 900w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-parque-de-malaga-300x200.jpg 300w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-parque-de-malaga-768x512.jpg 768w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-parque-de-malaga-585x390.jpg 585w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/tipsforjourney-malaga-attractions-parque-de-malaga-263x175.jpg 263w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">You can also see this magnificent building in the park</figcaption></figure>
</div>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Jardin Botanico Historico La Concepcion</strong></h3>

<p>This 22-hectare botanical garden on the city&#8217;s northern outskirts features subtropical and tropical plant species.</p>

<p>With over 2000 plant species, including rare trees, palm trees, bamboos, and orchids, the garden&#8217;s design is reminiscent of an English-style landscape garden, complete with pathways, lakes, and waterfalls.</p>

<p>Its most famous part is the Mirador Histórico, offering a magnificent view of the city.</p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Playa la Malagueta</strong></h3>

<p>The city&#8217;s beachfront stretches about 2.5 km from the port, with sandy beaches.</p>

<p>The beach offers sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, and there are several restaurants and bars along the shore.</p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p><strong>Spain is one of the most charming countries, with many great places waiting for visitors. The Mediterranean climate and the Spanish lifestyle make it a popular destination for many.</strong></p>

<p>One of the world&#8217;s most popular tourist destinations, thanks to its beaches, pleasant weather and charming towns. On the mainland, it borders <a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/best-places-in-portugal/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Portugal</a>, <a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/best-places-in-france/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">France</a>, Andorra and <a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/gibraltar-attractions-weather/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Gibraltar</a>.</p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center"><strong>Best places in Spain</strong></h2>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Barcelona</strong></h3>

<p>One of my favorites is the <a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/wonderful-attractions-and-iconic-cities-in-catalonia/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Catalan</a> capital, which has an excellent atmosphere and lots of sights to see.</p>

<p>The architectural solutions of Gaudí dominate Barcelona, appearing in amazing futuristic creations. Just think of the Sagrada Família church or Park Güell.</p>

<p>Even for those who are not football fans, attending a Barca match is worthwhile. The world-famous football team is a symbol of Catalonia, and watching a match in their huge stadium is an experience.</p>

<p>Thanks to its climate, Barcelona is a great destination in both winter and summer. I have been there twice in January, and both times I enjoyed pleasant weather while exploring the city.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/barcelona-attractions/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Barcelona attractions</a></p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/three-days-in-barcelona-part-1-general-information-and-museums/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Three days in Barcelona</a></p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Tenerife</strong></h3>

<p>The most popular of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is a unique island. From beautiful beaches to mountainous areas, everything can be found here.</p>

<p>For those who love high mountain hiking, climbing to the peak of Mount Teide, which is 3718 meters high, is a must. However, those who do not want to tire themselves too much can take the cable car up near the summit.</p>

<p>The southern part of the island is the real tourist area, where you can find <a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/most-beautiful-european-beaches/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">fine sandy beaches</a>. The most beautiful, however, is in the north. Teresitas beach, at the foot of the mountains, has wonderful golden sandy shores.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/tenerife-attractions/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tenerife attractions</a></p>

<div class="wp-block-image">

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Madrid</strong></h3>

<p>Of course, the capital cannot be left out of the list!</p>

<p>Madrid is known for its great museums and the football team, Real Madrid.</p>

<p>Even those who are not fond of art must visit one of the world&#8217;s most famous museums, the Prado. Masterpieces of Spanish painting can be seen live.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/madrid-attractions/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Madrid attractions</a></p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/best-museums-in-madrid/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Best museums in Madrid</a></p>

<div class="wp-block-image">

</div>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Seville</strong></h3>

<p>The center of <a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/andalusia-attractions/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Andalusia</a> is also famous as the capital of Moorish architecture, making Seville one of the most interesting cities.</p>

<p>Among the architectural masterpieces, Plaza de Espana stands out with its art deco and neo-Mudéjar style. On the side of the building, small alcoves feature tile mosaics depicting significant historical events from each province of the country.</p>

<p>In addition, the Alcazar, a palace with a beautiful garden, showcases the wealth of the caliphs.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/seville-attractions/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Seville attractions</a></p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/seville-a-place-where-every-part-is-a-true-wonder/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Seville – a place where every part is a true wonder</a></p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="675" src="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-seville.jpg" alt="Seville is the capital of Moorish architecture" class="wp-image-739" srcset="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-seville.jpg 900w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-seville-300x225.jpg 300w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-seville-768x576.jpg 768w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-seville-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Seville is the capital of Moorish architecture</figcaption></figure>
</div>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Toledo</strong></h3>

<p>Just 70 km from the capital lies the former capital, which is a popular tourist destination.</p>

<p>The city, built on a rocky hill, is surrounded on three sides by the Tagus River, where several magnificent buildings can be admired. Among them is the former Moorish palace, the Alcazar, and the Gothic structure of the Toledo Cathedral, which is among the most beautiful in the world.</p>

<p>Toledo is also known as the city of three cultures, as Muslims, Christians, and Jews all lived freely here. This blend of three styles is felt throughout the city.</p>

<p>So, if you are in Madrid, don’t forget to plan a trip to Toledo! It&#8217;s very easy to reach from the capital by train.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" src="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-toledo.jpg" alt="Toledo was the capital" class="wp-image-740" srcset="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-toledo.jpg 900w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-toledo-300x200.jpg 300w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-toledo-768x512.jpg 768w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-toledo-585x390.jpg 585w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-toledo-263x175.jpg 263w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Toledo was the capital</figcaption></figure>
</div>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Balearic Islands</strong></h3>

<p>Each of the three major islands (Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca) is worth a separate trip, so I can&#8217;t differentiate between them.</p>

<p>During the summer, each island is very popular. If you want to party, then Ibiza is the clear winner. If you prefer a quieter place, Menorca is more suitable for that purpose.</p>

<p>If you really want white sandy beaches, then while vacationing in Ibiza, you should visit the nearby island of Formentera.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/mallorca-attractions-beaches/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mallorca attractions, beaches</a></p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Valencia</strong></h3>

<p>Many say about this city what I wrote about Barcelona: that it will become one of the favorite cities for those who visit.</p>

<p>Valencia has numerous museums, and a whole quarter has been built, named the City of Arts and Sciences. It consists of seven parts, covering an area of 350,000 square kilometers. The buildings are unique, designed by a famous architect inspired by Gaudí&#8217;s work.</p>

<p>Another well-known part of the city is a park developed from a former riverbed that cuts through the city. This 8 km long park is filled with flowers, palm trees, and orange trees. The creation of this park was an excellent idea!</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/valencia-attractions/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Valencia attractions</a></p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" src="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-valencia.jpg" alt="Valencia is a centre for the arts" class="wp-image-742" srcset="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-valencia.jpg 900w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-valencia-300x200.jpg 300w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-valencia-768x512.jpg 768w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-valencia-585x390.jpg 585w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-valencia-263x175.jpg 263w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Valencia is a centre for the arts</figcaption></figure>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>San Sebastian</strong></h3>

<p>The Basque Country is an authentic part of Spain, and like the Catalans, they have a strong sense of identity.</p>

<p>One of its most famous towns is San Sebastian, which was the cultural capital of the year in 2016. Here you can find one of the country&#8217;s most beautiful beaches, La Concha beach. Just look at the picture below, and you will think so too!</p>

<p>From the Christ statue on the left hilltop, there&#8217;s a magnificent view. It&#8217;s somewhat reminiscent of <a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/rio-de-janeiro-attractions-weather/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rio de Janeiro</a> because of this.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="516" src="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-san-sebastian.jpg" alt="The beautiful La Cocha beach" class="wp-image-743" srcset="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-san-sebastian.jpg 900w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-san-sebastian-300x172.jpg 300w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-san-sebastian-768x440.jpg 768w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-san-sebastian-585x335.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">The beautiful La Cocha beach</figcaption></figure>
</div>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Malaga and Costa del Sol</strong></h3>

<p>Malaga, Andalusia&#8217;s second-largest city, is the heart of the Costa del Sol, a popular tourist destination known for its excellent wines, mild climate, and abundant sunshine.</p>

<p>The Gibralfaro Castle, overlooking the city, offers stunning views of the bullring, the port, the sea, and, on the other side, the mountains. Another attraction is the Alcazaba, Spain&#8217;s best-preserved Moorish fortress.</p>

<p>The Sunny Coast stretches nearly 150 km along the Mediterranean Sea, with numerous sandy beaches, resort towns, and hotels welcoming vacationers. With temperatures near 20 degrees Celsius even in winter, it&#8217;s worth visiting during this season for some warmth.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/malaga-where-we-can-escape-in-winter/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Malaga, where we can escape in winter</a></p>

</div>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Castellfollit de la Roca</strong></h3>

<p>Located in Catalonia, at the foot of the Pyrenees, this small village is built on a rock outcrop.</p>

<p>The village is built on a 50-meter high, approximately 1-kilometer long basalt rock. It&#8217;s essentially a long street, as this part of the rock is so narrow. The village has existed for hundreds of years, allowing tourists to stroll through a genuine medieval village.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" src="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-castellfollit.jpg" alt="If you are afraid of heights, don't move here! :)" class="wp-image-758" srcset="https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-castellfollit.jpg 900w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-castellfollit-300x200.jpg 300w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-castellfollit-768x512.jpg 768w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-castellfollit-585x390.jpg 585w, https://tipsforjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tipsforjouney-best-of-spain-castellfollit-263x175.jpg 263w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">If you are afraid of heights, don&#8217;t move here! 🙂</figcaption></figure>
</div>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Ronda</strong></h3>

<p>Called the most beautifully located town in Spain, Ronda sits at an elevation of 750 meters.</p>

<p>You must have seen that picture where a bridge connects two huge rock parts. That is the most characteristic image of Ronda.</p>

<p>Additionally, the town is notable for showcasing multiple architectural styles and for housing one of Spain&#8217;s oldest bullfighting arenas.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Fuerteventura</strong></h3>

<p>One of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura is known for its wonderful beaches and almost lunar landscapes.</p>

<p>The latter is no surprise since it was formed by volcanic activity, which is perhaps most evident here. Due to this unique nature, UNESCO has declared the entire island a biosphere reserve.</p>

<p>The most beautiful beaches can be found in the southern and northern parts of the island. The famous Sotavento long beach and the Corralejo sand dunes are among the most beautiful sights in Fuerteventura.</p>

<p>The Old Town, or Casco Viejo, hides narrow streets, old churches, and colorful buildings. Here, you&#8217;ll find the Santiago Cathedral and the Plaza Nueva, famous for its Sunday flea market and tapas bars.</p>

<p>Many may be familiar with the Guggenheim Museum, a renowned museum of modern and contemporary art showcasing works by Spanish and international artists. The building is designed to resemble a ship.</p>

<p>When in Bilbao, be sure to try the local version of tapas, pintxos.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Cuenca</strong></h3>

<p>To be honest, I didn&#8217;t know the name of this town. Yet, the city located between Madrid and Valencia is a gem within Spain.</p>

<p>Listed by UNESCO, the city is built on a rocky cliff, with houses perched on its &#8222;edges&#8221;, known as Casas Colgadas or Hanging Houses.</p>

<p>In the main square stands the country&#8217;s oldest Gothic cathedral, built in the 12th century. Legend has it that the Holy Grail was kept in this church.</p>

<p>Near the city, there is a natural curiosity. The Ciudad Encantada, or Enchanted City, hides unique geological formations, shaping various figures.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Santiago de Compostela</strong></h3>

<p>One of the prominent centers of Galicia, it is the western endpoint of the Way of St. James, better known as El Camino in Spain.</p>

<p>Its most famous attraction is the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, <a href="https://tipsforjourney.com/most-beautiful-churches-in-the-world/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the largest Romanesque church</a> built in Spain. It is said to be the burial place of Saint James the Elder, whose final resting place is now adorned with a life-sized statue of the saint.</p>

<p>However, Compostela is not only worth visiting for this reason. This is evidenced by the fact that in 1985, its old town was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and the city was the European Capital of Culture in 2000.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Segovia</strong></h3>

<p>Located 100 km from Madrid, the city is famous for its Roman aqueduct and medieval old town, both of which are also World Heritage Sites.</p>

<p>The aqueduct is actually a bridge, one of the most significant Roman monuments on the Iberian Peninsula. It has a total of 167 arches: from its arrival in the city to the Plaza del Día Sanz, it has 75 simple arches, followed by 44 double (or 88 in total), and then four more simple arches.</p>

<p>The Alcázar fortress is one of Spain&#8217;s most distinctive castle palaces due to its shape. It was built by the Almoravid dynasty in the 11th century. Today, the fortress houses a museum and a military archive.</p>

<p>Cádiz has a unique atmosphere, surrounded by the sea, known for its carnival, lively streets, and friendly ambiance.</p>

<p>In the old town, the El Pópulo district features narrow streets and historic buildings, including the baroque and neoclassical Cádiz Cathedral. <h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Burgos</strong></h3>

<p>The Burgos Cathedral is the city&#8217;s symbol and one of the most important Gothic architectural masterpieces in Spain. Its elegance, harmony of lines, and the fact that it is the only Spanish cathedral listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on its own, without its surroundings, make it particularly impressive.</p>
