Transportation between airports and city

Shanghai has two major international airports: Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Hongqiao International Airport (SHA).

Pudong International Airport

Shanghai’s main international airport, located about 30 km from downtown. It has two terminals (T1, T2) that are connected by walkways.

Maglev

The fastest mode of transportation, reaching Longyang Road metro station in just 7 minutes, where you can transfer to metro lines 2, 7, 16, and 18. It operates from morning until late evening in both directions.

The Maglev is the world’s fastest commercial train, capable of traveling at speeds of 300 km/h. Thanks to electromagnetic levitation technology, the train glides almost silently.

Ticket price: 50 yuan one-way, 80 yuan round-trip. The return ticket is valid for seven days.

Metro

Line 2 connects downtown to the airport. It stops at several central locations (Century Avenue, Lujiazui) with numerous transfer options. It operates from morning until late evening.

Since the other terminus of Line 2 is Hongqiao Airport, travelers can travel directly between the two airports with a transfer.

Buses

Several bus routes operate to downtown under the name Airport Line. They run from morning until evening.

It’s advisable to use the Maglev or Line 2 metro, as they will get you to the center much faster.

Night transportation

Late Night Bus handles nighttime transportation. It operates between 11 PM and 5:30 AM.

Main stops: Longyang Road, Century Avenue Metro Station, East Yan’an Road.

Hongqiao International Airport

This airport primarily serves domestic flights and some regional international flights, and is located closer to downtown (about 13 km). It has two terminals (T1 and T2).

Metro

From Terminal 1, Line 10 takes you downtown. There are transfer options at several locations.

From Terminal 2, Lines 2 and 10 operate. Line 2 also takes you directly to Pudong Airport.

Bus

From Terminal 1, bus 807 operates from morning until late evening.

From Terminal 2, several bus routes are available.

Night transportation

One bus route, 316, operates at night. It runs from 11 PM to 5 AM.

Shanghai city transportation

Shanghai’s public transportation is one of the most advanced in China, and the metro is particularly recommended.

The metro is one of the world’s largest and busiest systems with more than 20 lines and hundreds of stations. It’s fast, reliable, and covers the entire city, making it the most popular transportation mode. English signs and automated machines help tourists navigate. The metro network map can be found here!

The city bus network is dense, but without knowledge of Chinese, it can be difficult to navigate as many routes don’t have English signs.

Worth mentioning is the DiDi application, which is equivalent to Uber. The application is also available in English.

Ticket types

Single-trip ticket

On the metro and buses, the ticket price depends on the distance traveled, generally between 3-6 yuan. Tickets can be purchased from automatic machines at metro stations.

Day passes

The one-day pass is valid for 24 hours from first use, allowing unlimited travel on the metro. Price: 18 yuan.

The three-day pass is valid for 72 hours from first use, allowing unlimited travel on the metro. Price: 45 yuan.

Maglev & Metro ticket

There is a combined ticket type for the Maglev magnetic levitation train that runs between Pudong Airport and Longyang metro station.

The one-day pass includes Maglev travel. There is a single-trip Maglev ticket (Maglev Single Trip + Metro One-day Pass: 55 yuan) and a round-trip Maglev ticket (Maglev Round Trip + Metro One-day Pass: 85 yuan).

On the metro, you can travel unlimited times for 24 hours from first use.

Runs between the airport and Centraal Station multiple times per hour (including hourly night service).

Bus 397 (Amsterdam Airport Express) runs to Elandsgracht bus station, with multiple stops (e.g., Rijksmuseum). Night service runs as N97.

Public transportation

The city has excellent public transport: bus, tram, metro, and even water taxi.

Important: You must validate your ticket/pass both when boarding and alighting by scanning at the reader. Exception: metro-to-metro transfers only require validation when exiting the station.

It is also worth mentioning the ferry transport! There are several boat services between the districts: the most used is the one between the main station and the opposite side (Buiksloterweg). All boat services are free! For more information about the services, click here!

Amsterdam Travel Ticket

This ticket allows unlimited travel within Amsterdam and is valid for the train between Schiphol Airport and the city, the 397 and the night bus N97.

Tickets are available for 1, 2 and 3 days. It is valid for a calendar day, from 0.00 a.m. one day until 4.00 a.m. the next.

• 1 day: €18

Airport and city center transportation

The Barajas Airport (Aeropuerto de Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez) is located in the northeastern part of Madrid, from where it’s easy to get into the city center.

It has four terminals, but terminals 1, 2, and 3 can be accessed from one location. So essentially, there are two main areas to exit the airport.

Metro

Line 8 stops at both main areas (T1-T2-T3 and T4 terminals). In the city center, the final stop is Nuevos Ministerios station, where you can transfer to other metro lines (6 and 10).

Public transportation tickets and passes are valid (the airport belongs to „A” zone), but an additional ticket, Billete Suplemento Aeropuerto, is required (3 €). The tourist ticket (Abono Transporte Turístico) is an exception, with which you can travel without an additional ticket.

The ticket price is 4.50-5 € depending on the number of stations (this includes the supplementary ticket). The ticket machine will ask for the destination and calculate the price.

Buses

Several buses can take you to the city center, connecting to transfer points.

Bus 203 (Exprés Aeropuerto)

Runs from T1, T2, and T4 terminals to Atocha Station.

Travel time is only 30-35 minutes, and it operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Tickets can be purchased on the bus and public transportation passes are not valid.

Ticket price is 5 €.

Bus 101

Runs from T1, T2, T3 terminals to Canillejas stop, where you can transfer to Line 5 metro.

Tickets can be purchased on the bus, public transportation passes are valid (except metro tickets).

Ticket price is 1.50 €.

Bus 200

Runs from all four terminals to Avenida de América stop, where you can transfer to metro lines 4, 6, 7, and 9.

Tickets can be purchased on the bus, public transportation passes are valid (except metro tickets).

Ticket price is 1.50 €.

Public transportation in Madrid city

Madrid’s transportation is eerily similar to Barcelona’s. The numerous metro lines cover the city, allowing you to reach almost every important location.

Madrid’s transportation system is divided into urban („A” zone) and suburban areas. What interests us, tourists, is that the main attractions are located in the „A” zone.

Public transportation is free for children under 4 years old!

Multi Card

Transportation can only be used with a Multi Card. This is a magnetic card that can be purchased from an automatic machine and must be loaded with tickets or passes. There’s a one-time issuance fee of 2.5 €.

To validate, the magnetic card must be touched to the sensor at the metro entrance and on the bus.

Bus ticket (Billete EMT)

This exists only for buses and can be purchased from the bus driver.

Ticket price is 1.50 €.

Metro ticket (Billete Metro)

As the name suggests, it can only be used on the metro. Valid only for one trip on the day of purchase.

The metro ticket price depends on the number of stations! The ticket machine will ask for the destination and calculate the price. This is valid within Madrid’s boundaries („A” zone), outside of which a uniform price ticket is required (Billete Combinado).

Ticket price is between 1.50-2 € depending on the number of stations.

Collective ticket (Metrobús 10 trips)

This means 10 tickets valid for both bus and metro. For the metro, the number of stations within the „A” zone doesn’t matter. Can be used by multiple people.

The collective ticket price is 12.20 € (station number is irrelevant).

Day passes / Tourist ticket (Abono Transporte Turístico)

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7-day passes can be purchased, providing unlimited travel in the purchased zone. If you only want to see attractions within the city, the „A” zone tourist ticket is sufficient.

Each pass is valid for calendar days, meaning it’s valid until midnight on the last day of the period!

With this pass, no additional ticket is needed for the airport metro!

Passes for children under 11 years old are half-price!

• 1 day: 8.40 €
• 2 days: 14.20 €
• 3 days: 18.40 €
• 4 days: 22.60 €
• 5 days: 26.80 €

Airports and transportation between the city and airports

Brussels International Airport

Located northeast of the city, next to Zaventem town, this airport serves major airlines.

Train

Multiple trains per hour to Brussels’ three main railway stations (Midi-Zuid, Centraal, Noord), from where you can also reach other Belgian cities. The platform is on Level -1.

The journey to the main station takes 15-20 minutes. Tickets can be purchased online or from ticket vending machines.

Airport Line bus

Bus number 12 runs between the airport and Troon metro station daily from morning to evening. It also stops at Schuman metro station (lines 1 and 5). At the airport, it departs from Level 0.

An „Airport2City” ticket is required for travel. You can pay by bank card on the bus for €7.50. A paper ticket from the vending machine costs €8.

Charleroi Airport

Charleroi’s airport is located 50 km south of Brussels. Wizzair and Ryanair flights operate here.

Bus

Flibco operates services from the airport. You can reach not only Brussels but also several other cities directly (e.g., Ghent, Bruges).

Buses to Brussels Midi station run 24/7, departing every 20 minutes. The journey takes about 55 minutes.

It’s best to buy tickets online. The ticket is valid for all services on the day of travel, so there’s no problem in case of flight delays.

Bus and train

From the airport, you can take a TEC bus to Charleroi-Sud railway station, then an Intercity train to Brussels-Midi or Brussels-Centraal stations (both are also metro stations). The bus journey takes 20 minutes, while the train journey is 1 hour. Trains run every 30-60 minutes.

Tickets for both journeys can be purchased together from machines or online.

Public transportation in Brussels

Brussels has four metro lines, as well as rapid trams (chrono), trams, and buses that cover the city very well.

Public transportation is free for children under 6 years old!

A single ticket is valid for 1 hour on any STIB/MIVB operated transport, and transfers are allowed.

Ticket purchase and ticket types prices

There are several options for buying tickets and using public transportation:

• Contactless payment with a bank card.
• Mobile application: only a few ticket types can be purchased through the STIB-MIVB app.
• MOBIB-Basic: a magnetic card that can be loaded with tickets.
• Paper-based ticket: can be purchased from vending machines.

Contactless payment

This is the simplest and cheapest method. You can pay with a bank card (or associated mobile phone, smartwatch) with one touch. At metro stations, touch the sensor at the gate; on buses and trams, touch the sensor and wait for the green light to confirm your valid ticket.

One bank card can only be used by one person!

Single ticket price: €2.20.

There’s a daily limit of €8. The system won’t charge more than this. It applies to a calendar day.

STIB-MIVB application

Tickets purchased in the app must be activated, then you need to select the mode of transport. If there’s an entry gate, select the QR code in the ticket details and scan it at the sensor. Do the same at the exit gate.

Tickets available in the mobile app and their prices:

• Brupass single journey: €2.60
• Brupass 10 journeys: €18.20
• Brupass XL single journey: €3.50
• Brupass XL 10 journeys: €24.50

The Brupass XL ticket can be used for travel within the Brussels region.

MOBIB-Basic

This is a magnetic card that can be loaded with the desired ticket type. It can be purchased at metro stations, major train stations at Kiosk ticket offices, and from vending machines found in various locations.

The card costs €6.

Loadable tickets and prices:

• Brupass single journey: €2.60
• Brupass 10 journeys: €18.20
• Brupass day ticket (calendar day): €9.10
• Brupass XL single journey: €3.50
• Brupass XL 10 journeys: €24.50

Transportation between the airport and Barcelona

R2 train

The station can be reached on foot from Terminal 2. From the arrival terminal, just follow the train sign.

In the city center, you can transfer to the metro at Sants, Passeig de Gracia, and Clot stations.

The Hola Barcelona Travel Card, T-casual, and Barcelona Card are all valid for this train. It’s worth buying one of these at the airport or online, as the train ride will be free.

All tickets can be purchased from the vending machines at the train station. The city is divided into zones, with the airport in Zone 4.

Requires a „Billet aeroport” ticket and is valid for transfers to other metro lines. Price: €5.70

T-casual is not valid, but Hola Barcelona Travel Card is.

Night bus (NitBus)

At night, NitBus runs between the airport and Placa de Catalunya, stopping at Placa Universitat and Placa Espanya.

Bus N17 runs to Terminal 1. Bus N18 serves both Terminal 1 and 2.

T-casual is valid, but Hola Barcelona Travel Card and Barcelona Card are not.

Barcelona city public transportation

Barcelona’s transportation is excellent, with 9 metro lines crisscrossing the city with numerous stops. There are several ticket options to choose from.

The city and its agglomeration are divided into six zones, but this isn’t relevant for tourists. All famous attractions are in Zone 1.

Travel is free for children under 4 years old!

Single ticket

Valid for only one trip without interruption. It’s really only worth it if you use the metro (except for metro line 9 to the airport) or bus only once a day.

Price: €2.65

Bus ticket

A single-trip ticket that can be purchased on the bus with a contactless bank card. This option is only available on TMB-operated buses!

Price: €2.65

T-casual

Can be used for 10 trips, available for all zones. Can only be used by one person!

For the single-zone ticket, you have 75 minutes between the first and last validation if you change lines or mode of transport. This time increases by 15 minutes per zone. So if you buy a six-zone ticket, it’s valid for 150 minutes.

Not valid for the L9 metro when accessing the airport!

Price for 1 zone: €12.55

T-familiar

Valid for 8 trips within 30 consecutive days from the first validation. Can be used by multiple people!

Available for all zones. Similar to T-casual, for the single-zone ticket, you have 75 minutes between the first and last validation if you change lines or mode of transport. This time increases by 15 minutes per zone.

Not valid for the L9 metro when accessing the airport!

Price for 1 zonet: €11.05

Day tickets

Multi-day passes are called Hola Barcelona Travel Card.

Available for 2 (48 hours), 3 (72 hours), 4 (96 hours), 5 (120 hours) days. Valid until the end of the time period in parentheses from the time of validation!

Valid for: metro (including L9S airport line), Rodalies de Catalunya train in zone 1, R2 train between airport and city center, FGC train in zone 1, TMB buses, Montjuïc funicular, tram.

Not valid for night buses and the Montjuic cable car!

• 4 days: €34.40

Fiumicino Airport

Leonardo Express train

Runs from early morning to late evening to Termini railway station.

Tickets can be purchased from Trenitalia vending machines or at tobacco shops in the train station. After validation before boarding, you can travel for 90 minutes.

The price for a one-way ticket is €14. Free for children under 4. Children aged 4-12 can travel free with an adult holding a ticket!

FR1 train

Runs from early morning to late evening, with metro connections at Ostiense, Tuscolana, and Tiburtina stops.

Tickets can be purchased online, from Trenitalia vending machines or at tobacco shops in the train station. After validation before boarding, you can travel for 90 minutes.

The price for a one-way ticket is €8. Free for children under 4. Children aged 4-12 can travel free with an adult holding a ticket!

Transfer buses

All buses run to the central railway station in the city center, Termini.

At Termini, the departure point is on the right side of the street facing the station. There’s also a ticket office here, but tickets can also be purchased online.

• SIT bus: €7 one-way, €13 round trip. Information here!

• T.A.M bus: €7 one-way, €12 round trip. Information here!

Night transportation

Cotral buses run between the airport and Tiburtina metro station. Follow the Regional Bus Station sign at the airport.

Ciampino Airport

Bus 520

Runs to Cinecittà metro station (Line A), from where you can reach the city center by metro.

Public transport tickets and passes are valid!

Bus 720

Runs to Laurentina metro station (Line B), from where you can reach the city center by metro. It has a longer journey time than bus 520, recommended for those heading to the southern part of Rome.

Public transport tickets and passes are valid!

Transfer buses

Also run to Termini train station.

• SIT bus: €6 one-way, €11 round trip. Information here!

Rome city public transportation

Tickets and passes must be validated when entering the metro area, and when boarding trams and buses. When leaving the metro, you must also insert the ticket or pass in the appropriate place.

For passes, the device prints the time when it becomes valid on first use.

Public transportation is free for children under 10, except for airport and transfer services!

Single ticket (BIT)

Valid for 100 minutes from validation, transfers are allowed within this time. You can also transfer on the metro, but only as long as you don’t leave the metro area (similar to Budapest).

Price: 1.50 €

Group ticket (MULTI-BIT)

A single card that allows you to travel 2, 3, 5 or 10 times up to 100 minutes from the date of validation. When the 100-minute period expires, the card must be revalidated, which starts the next 100-minute period.

The price is the same as the corresponding number of tickets, so no discount is included. This is worth buying if you are making fewer trips and do not need to buy a separate ticket.

Daily and weekly passes

24, 48, 72-hour and weekly passes are available, allowing unlimited travel by metro, bus, and tram from first validation.

The weekly ticket (CIS) is valid for 7 calendar days, with the first day being the day of validation.

Charles de Gaulle Airport

RER B train

Runs between the airport and Gare du Nord railway station. The ticket is valid for metro transfers within the metro area. Travel time 25-30 minutes.

Roissybus

Runs between the airport and Opera without stops. Transfer options to metro lines 3, 7, and 8 at Opera. Travel time 60-75 minutes.

Bus 350

Runs to Gare de l’Est station, where there are transfer options to the metro (lines 4, 5, 7). Travel time 60-80 minutes.

Bus 351

Runs to Place de la Nation station, where there are transfer options to the metro (lines 1, 2, 6, 9) and RER A. Travel time 70-90 minutes.

Public transportation tickets and passes are valid!

Night buses (Noctilien)

At night, buses N140 and N143 run to Gare de l’Est station.

Orly Airport

Metro 14

The metro line runs north-south through Parisopn, providing direct access to the city centre.

A separate ticket is required (Ticket aéroport Orly), public transport tickets and passes are not valid!

Orlyval and RER B

The Orlyval metro runs to Anthony station, where you can change to the RER B (which takes you directly to the city centre).

Public transport tickets and season tickets are not valid on the Orlyval line!

Price: 13 €

Bus and RER C

At the airport, follow the „Paris by train” sign to reach a bus called Go C Paris, which takes you to the Pont de Rungis RER station. From there, the RER C train takes you to the city center, connecting to several metro stops.

The RER ticket is valid for metro transfers within the metro area. Public transportation tickets and passes are not valid!

Price: 4.50 €

Orlybus

The bus departs from the airport’s south gate H and west gate D.

It runs to Denfert-Rochereau metro station, where there are transfer options to metro lines 4 and 6. Travel time 25-30 minutes.

Public transportation tickets and passes are not valid!

Price: 13 €

T7 tram and metro

Take the T7 tram to Vilejuif-Louis Aragon metro station, where you can transfer to metro line 7. Single ticket is required.

Public transportation tickets and passes are valid for the tram!

Bus 183

Runs to Porte de Choisy station, where you can transfer to metro line 7. Travel time 40 minutes.

Public transportation tickets and passes are valid!

Beauvais Airport

Located 80 km north of Paris, near Beauvais city. Some discount airlines fly here.

Bus A02 connects to Paris Saint-Denis University station, where you can transfer to metro line 13.

Price:

• Online: adult one way €16.90 / return €29.90€, child (4-11 years) one way €9.90 / return €19.90, infant (0-3 years) free
• On stage: adult one way €18.00 / return €35.00, child (4-11 years) one way €18.00 / return €35.00, infant (0-3 years) free

Paris public transportation

Paris transportation is based on the metro and RER suburban trains, which densely cover the city and its immediate surroundings.

Paris is divided into five zones (city center is zone 1). Almost all attractions are within zone 1.

Transportation is free for children under 4 years old!

On mobile, you can buy tickets online in the Bonjour RATP app.

Single ticket (T+)

Valid within the Île-de-France region on buses, trams, metro, and the Montmartre funicular, regardless of zones.

For RER, it’s only valid within zone 1.

The single-ticket system is a bit complicated because transfers are allowed, but not always! I’ll try to explain it simply:

• On metro, RER, from metro to RER, and from RER to metro, it’s valid for unlimited transfers within 90 minutes;
• From tram to tram, tram to bus, bus to bus, and bus to tram, it’s valid for unlimited transfers within 90 minutes;
• Transfers from bus/tram to metro/RER and vice versa are not possible!
• Transfers are not possible on night buses!

Price: 2.50 €

Day Pass (Navigo Jour)

Available only as one-day version, valid for calendar day (00:00-23:59).

Valid on all transport in zones 1-5, except: Orlyval, Orlybus, metro line 14 to Orly airport, RER B to Charles-de-Gaulle airport.

Price: €12

Transportation between airports and the city center

There are two airports in Berlin, with the newest one (Brandenburg) opening in 2020. The latter is the largest and Berlin’s main airport.

Tegel Airport was closed at the end of 2020, while Schönefeld now operates as one of the terminals of Brandenburg Airport.

Berlin-Brandenburg Airport

Located 18 km south of Berlin’s center, next to Berlin-Schönefeld Airport.

It has two terminals (T1, T2) and is easily accessible from Berlin’s center in multiple ways.

Berlin public transport tickets are only valid with a „C” zone supplementary ticket.

S-Bahn

S9 and S45 trains (similar to suburban rail) take you to the T1-T2 station.

Transfer options to the metro are available at various stops for both lines.

X7 ExpressBus

Operates 24/7 between Rudow U7 metro station and the T1-T2 stop. Also stops at T5 (Schönefeld).

The fastest way to get in by bus (about 18 minutes travel time from the metro station), as it has no intermediate stops outside the terminals.

Schönefeld Airport (Terminal T5 of Brandenburg Airport)

Schönefeld Airport became Terminal T5 of Brandenburg Airport.

You can travel between T1-T2 and T5 terminals using the S9 and S45 trains.

Berlin public transport tickets are only valid with a „C” zone supplementary ticket.

Airport-Express Schönefeld

RE7, RB14, or RB19 trains can take you to the city center between 4:30 and 23:00.

Transfer options to the metro are available at various stops for all lines.

S-Bahn

S45 and S9 trains also provide access to the city.

Buses

Several bus lines operate to the airport, providing transfers to metro or train in the suburbs.

The best choice is the X7 bus, operating 24/7 to Rudow U7 metro station (with its other terminus at the T1-T2 stop).

Additionally, buses 163, 164, and 171 operate with longer travel times.

Berlin city public transport

Berlin has an excellent public transportation system, with easy access everywhere by metro (U-Bahn), bus, and suburban rail (S-Bahn).

We must highlight bus 100, which covers the main attractions in the city center. It’s worth using this service.

Berlin is divided into three zones (A, B, C), with almost all attractions located in zones A and B. For Brandenburg and Schönefeld airports, an ABC ticket or an AB ticket with a „C” supplement is required.

Tickets

AB tickets (Einzelfahrschein) and ABC tickets are valid for 2 hours with unlimited transfers but cannot be used for return trips.

If you only have an AB ticket, you need a „C” supplement to travel to zone C.

In the AB zone, you can also buy a short-trip ticket (Kurzstrecke) for a maximum of 3 metro or S-Bahn stops, or 6 bus or tram stops.

The 4-trip collective ticket allows 4 trips and is available for AB and ABC zones.

The 4-trip short-trip ticket (4-Fahrten-Karte Kurzstrecke) contains 4 short-trip tickets, valid for a maximum of 3 metro or S-Bahn stops, or 6 bus or tram stops.

Day ticket, weekly pass

AB and ABC day tickets (24-Stunden-karte) are available, valid for 24 hours after validation.

Group day tickets (24-Stunden-Karte Kleingruppen) can be purchased for up to 5 people. Valid for 24 hours after validation.

AB and ABC 7-day passes (7-Tage-Karte) are available, valid until midnight of the 7th day. These allow free travel for up to 3 children aged 6-14 with an adult on holidays, weekends, and weekdays after 8 PM.

Airport

Munich has one airport (Franz Josef Strauss International Airport) with two terminals, located 30 km north of the city center.

The fastest way to reach the city center is by suburban train: the S1 and S8 lines have separate stops at the airport, departing at about 10-minute intervals. Both stop at Marienplatz and Hauptbahnhof (main station) as well. The journey time is approximately 40 minutes.

The S8 train operates between 4 AM and 1 AM. Exact timetables can be found here (enter „S8” on the Timetable page)!

The city tickets are not valid for these trains, you need an AirportPLUS-Ticket, which can be purchased online, via mobile application, and at ticket machines.

The Lufthansa Express Bus is a direct bus service between the airport and Munich Hauptbahnhof. It runs every 20 minutes every day, with a journey time of about 45 minutes. All information (timetable, ticket prices, etc.) can be found here!

Munich City public transport

Munich’s public transport system consists of four types of vehicles: U-Bahn (subway), S-Bahn (suburban train), tram, and bus.

Munich is divided into zones: tourists will mostly need the central city zone, Zone M. (The airport is not included in this zone.)

Ticket types

Travel is free for children under 6 years! Discounted fares apply for ages 6-14.

A single trip ticket (Einzelfahrkarte) is valid for one journey. There is also a „Kurzstrecke,” valid for 1 hour (recommended for city center travel). Tickets bought on trams or buses are valid for that journey only and do not require validation.

The day ticket (Single-Tageskarten) applies to a calendar day. It is valid on the day of validation and until 6 AM the following day.

The group day ticket (Gruppen-Tageskarte) is also valid on the day of validation and until 6 AM the next day. Up to 5 adults can travel with it, but 6-14-year-olds count as half. Ideal for families. (For example, two adults and four 6-14-year-olds can travel together.)

There is also a child day ticket (Kinder-Tageskarte) for 6-14-year-olds. This is worth buying for one adult and one child. It is valid on the day of validation and until 6 AM the following day.

Both options can be combined with free public transport in the city center.

With the Munich Card, you can purchase tickets at discounted prices at listed locations.
