Vancouver is popular among tourists as one of the world’s most livable cities. It stands out primarily for its natural and scientific attractions.

Canada’s 3rd largest city (after Toronto and Montreal) is located on the western coast of the country, very close to the United States border and Seattle. The city’s population density is the fourth highest on the North American continent after New York, San Francisco, and Mexico City.

Vancouver attractions

Stanley Park

One of Vancouver’s most outstanding natural attractions is one of the world’s largest urban parks.

Spread over more than 400 hectares, the park is a unique blend of pristine rainforest, stunning coastal walkways, and viewpoints that complement the cityscape.

The park’s most famous attraction is the renowned Seawall, a 9-kilometer promenade along the waterfront. The route is popular among pedestrians, runners, and cyclists alike, offering breathtaking views of the city, ocean, and surrounding mountains. The park also features numerous hiking trails, picnic areas, and gardens, including the rose garden and Beaver Lake filled with water lilies.

The iconic totem poles of Stanley Park are one of the most important symbols of local indigenous culture. Carvings made by First Nations artists are among the park’s most popular attractions. The Vancouver Aquarium is also located here (more about this below).

Granville Island

A vibrant cultural and gastronomic center located on a small peninsula on the shores of False Creek.

The area was once an industrial zone, but since the 1970s, it has become one of Vancouver’s most vibrant tourist destinations, where visitors can find local products, handicrafts, and excellent food.

Granville Island Public Market is one of the most popular places for visitors. The market’s abundant offerings showcase fresh fruits, vegetables, artisanal cheeses, pastries, and local specialties.

For art lovers, Granville Island’s art galleries and theaters offer attractive opportunities. The place is home to numerous craft workshops, painters, and glass artists. Granville Island Brewing, one of Vancouver’s oldest craft breweries, is also worth visiting.

Gastown

Vancouver’s historic district is one of the city’s most distinctive and atmospheric areas.

The neighborhood, filled with Victorian buildings, cobblestone streets, and cozy cafes, was formed in the 1860s and has now become one of the centers of local culture.

The most iconic attraction here is the famous Steam Clock, which emits sounds using steam pipes every hour. This unique mechanism is one of the most photogenic spots in the city, visited by thousands of tourists daily. Water Street is the main street of the neighborhood, lined with elegant boutiques, designer shops, and renowned restaurants.

Canada Place

One of the city’s most recognizable buildings is easily identified by its iconic white sails.

Originally built as one of the central venues for the 1986 World Exposition, it now serves as a conference center, port, and tourist attraction. It offers wonderful views of the ocean, Stanley Park, and the North Shore mountains.

One of the main attractions at the venue is FlyOver Canada, an impressive virtual flight experience that uniquely showcases Canada’s natural beauty and landmarks. Visitors can feel as if they are flying over Canada using a moving simulator.

Its white sails are distinctive

Robson Street

One of Vancouver’s busiest and most bustling streets, which is the city’s shopping and entertainment center.

The street is filled with international fashion brand stores, local boutiques, and exclusive shops, making it an unmissable destination for shopping enthusiasts. Its culinary offerings are also extremely diverse, with some of the world’s best cuisines available here.

The street is also one of the centers of the city’s cultural life, as it is located near the Vancouver Art Gallery, where temporary and permanent exhibitions await visitors.

Vancouver Seawall

One of the world’s longest recreational routes along the coastline, winding 28 km along the city’s shoreline.

The complete Seawall route begins at Stanley Park, then runs along the Downtown waterfront, along the shores of False Creek, and extends all the way to Kitsilano Beach and the Spanish Banks shoreline. Its most popular section is the Stanley Park Seawall, a 9 km circular route around the park that offers direct views of Burrard Inlet and English Bay.

The route provides separate lanes for pedestrians and cyclists, making travel safe and comfortable. Along the way, there are several parks, beaches, and picnic areas.

Great views from the seafront promenade

Kitsilano Beach

Known locally as „Kits Beach”, it is one of Vancouver’s most popular beaches and offers stunning views of the city and surrounding mountains.

The beach’s long, sandy shore and pleasant climate make it a favorite place for relaxation year-round. In summer, it’s taken over by swimmers and sunbathers, while during the cooler months, walkers and athletes enjoy the beauty of the shore.

One of the beach’s specialties is one of Canada’s largest saltwater outdoor pools. The pool runs along the coast, allowing visitors to enjoy both the experience of safe swimming and the scenic panorama. There are also picnic areas, sports fields, and restaurants along the shore.

The Kitsilano neighborhood is located in the immediate vicinity of the beach, welcoming visitors with cozy cafes, boutiques, and restaurants.

VanDusen Botanical Garden

A true oasis in the heart of Vancouver, spanning more than 22 hectares and home to more than 7,500 plant species.

The carefully designed gardens showcase plants from different climate zones around the world. Visitors can tour the flora of North America, Asia, and South Africa in a single walk.

One of the garden’s best-known attractions is the maze, made of living hedges, providing great entertainment for all ages. In spring, the cherry blossom blooms, and in autumn, the vibrant colors of Japanese maple trees make visits particularly attractive.

Vegetation from several regions

Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden

One of the most distinctive attractions in Vancouver’s Chinatown is North America’s first Chinese garden built using traditional methods.

The garden was designed according to classical Ming dynasty design principles and was built entirely by hand, using traditional techniques by Chinese craftsmen. Every element of the garden – the rocks, water, plants, and buildings – is in balance with each other. The carefully shaped paths offer winding routes between ponds and pavilions, while visitors can enjoy the beauty of Eastern garden art.

The garden welcomes visitors year-round with special programs and guided tours, where visitors can gain insight into Chinese culture and philosophy.

Queen Elizabeth Park

From one of Vancouver’s highest points, there is a breathtaking panorama of the city and surrounding mountains.

With its 52-hectare area, the park attracts not only nature lovers but also those planning a pleasant walk or picnic outdoors.

One of the park’s best-known parts is the Bloedel Conservatory, home to tropical plants and exotic birds. Thanks to the conservatory’s pleasant climate and diverse flora, it transports visitors to a completely different world. The park’s colorful flower beds, artificial waterfalls, and sculptures also contribute to the special atmosphere.

It is an ideal location for outdoor activities, including exploring botanical gardens, sports opportunities, or simple relaxation.

Lynn Canyon Park

The park welcomes visitors with pristine forest trails and stunning waterfalls.

One of its main attractions is the 50-meter-long Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, which spans across the deep gorge and offers exciting views of the verdant valley.

There are numerous hiking routes in the park area, leading through moss-covered trees and crystal-clear streams at various difficulty levels. The Twin Falls waterfall and the natural pool called 30 Foot Pool are particularly popular among visitors, who can even take a dip in the refreshing water during summer.

Walking on well-maintained hiking trails

Capilano Suspension Bridge

One of Vancouver’s most famous and popular natural attractions.

Built in 1889, the suspension bridge is 137 meters long and spans 70 meters above the Capilano River, offering stunning views of the pristine rainforest. Over the decades, the bridge has been reinforced several times, so today it is supported by a modern steel structure while preserving its original, exciting character.

Crossing the bridge is a real adventure, as it gently sways with each step, increasing visitors’ adrenaline levels. On the other side, a beautiful walkway awaits nature lovers, where wooden boardwalks and bridges allow exploration of the rainforest’s impressive wildlife. One of the most popular attractions is the Cliffwalk, a path with glass walkways winding along a rock face, revealing the canyon’s beauty from a special perspective.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park welcomes visitors year-round with special programs and light shows. During the year-end „Canyon Lights” event, the entire bridge and surrounding trees are bathed in festive lights, creating a wonderful atmosphere for nighttime visitors.

Greenheart TreeWalk

Offers a unique experience for those who want to experience the world of a rainforest canopy up close.

Located in the University of British Columbia Botanical Garden, suspension bridges and wooden platforms allow visitors to walk among the trees at a height of 23 meters. The 310-meter-long walkway was built with sustainability in mind and specifically designed to have minimal impact on the environment. Along the path, numerous information boards showcase the region’s native plants and the ecological role of the rainforest.

The Greenheart TreeWalk is particularly popular among bird watchers and nature photographers. The canopy offers an excellent view of the protected area’s wildlife, including rare bird species and rich vegetation.

Vancouver Art Gallery

One of Canada’s most significant art institutions attracts visitors with its rich collection and world-class exhibitions.

Founded in 1931, the gallery is housed in a historic building. It was once the city’s courthouse, and its impressive neoclassical facade still offers an impressive sight today.

The collection places special emphasis on Canadian and Western Canadian art, highlighting the work of Emily Carr, who became world-famous for her depictions of indigenous cultures and British Columbia landscapes. In addition to permanent exhibitions, the museum regularly organizes temporary exhibitions featuring works by international masters and contemporary artists.

All information can be found here!

Museum of Anthropology (MOA)

Located on the University of British Columbia campus, the museum specializes in showcasing indigenous cultures.

The MOA was established in 1947, and its iconic building was designed by Canadian architect Arthur Erickson. Opened in 1976, the modernist building’s design evokes the post-and-beam houses of local indigenous peoples, and its huge glass surfaces harmoniously blend with the surrounding nature.

The museum preserves more than 50,000 objects, including ritual masks, sculptures, and textiles from around the world. It is particularly famous for its impressive collection of totem poles, preserving the art and traditions of Indian tribes living on the coast of British Columbia. Bill Reid’s famous sculptures, including the famous „The Raven and the First Men” carving, depict Haida mythology.

The MOA’s specialty is the Living Archive, where visitors can interactively explore the history and contemporary life of indigenous communities.

Science World

The interactive science museum is particularly popular among family visitors.

Its building was originally designed for the 1986 World Exposition (Expo 86) and was converted into a science center after the event. The silver-domed structure was inspired by Buckminster Fuller’s geodesic dome, which has become a symbol of innovation and technology in Vancouver.

Its main attraction is interactive scientific exhibitions that showcase the world of physics, biology, chemistry, and technology in an entertaining way. Highlighted sections include the Eureka! Gallery, BodyWorks, and the Tinkering Space.

Vancouver Aquarium

Canada’s largest and one of its most important institutions showcasing marine wildlife.

Located in Stanley Park, it is home to more than 50,000 marine animals, including dolphins, jellyfish, octopuses, and otters.

Visitors can learn about ocean ecosystems and the lifestyles of individual species through interactive exhibitions. One of the most popular programs is the otter feeding demonstration, where we can observe the behavior of these playful animals up close.

Vancouver weather: when is the best time to visit?

Vancouver has a moderate oceanic climate, which means mild winters and cool, rainy summers. The city’s weather is relatively balanced, but there are significant differences between seasons.

Spring (March-May):

Spring gradually warms up, with average temperatures ranging from 7-18°C. Rain is still common during this period, but from April onward, there are increasingly more sunny days. The cherry blossom blooms and verdant parks make the city particularly attractive.

Summer (June-September):

Summer is mild and pleasantly warm, with average temperatures between 15-25°C. Extreme heat rarely occurs in Vancouver, and precipitation also decreases significantly. July and August are the sunniest months, making this the ideal period for outdoor activities such as exploring Stanley Park or relaxing at the beach.

Fall (September-November):

Fall is cool and rainy, with average temperatures between 10-18°C. October and November are particularly rainy months, but the colorful sight of deciduous trees can make this season magical too. Foggy mornings are common, especially in coastal areas.

Winter (December-February):

Winter is mild but rainy. Average temperatures range from 3-9°C, and although snowfall is rare in the city, the rainy, windy weather can make the perceived temperature lower. However, abundant snow falls in the nearby mountains, making this an ideal period for winter sports enthusiasts.

Best time to visit:

The best time to visit Vancouver is spring (April-May) and summer (June-August), when the weather is pleasant, precipitation is low, and the city’s natural beauty can be enjoyed in its full splendor.

Montreal is one of the „most French” cities outside of France, which has created a special atmosphere.

The second largest city in Canada after Toronto. It is the second largest French-speaking city in the western world after Paris. It is surrounded by two rivers, the Ottawa River and the St. Lawrence River.

Montreal attractions

Old Montreal (Vieux-Montréal)

The most beautiful part of the city features architecture preserved from the French colonial era, with cobblestone streets.

One of its most famous points is Place Jacques-Cartier, a bustling square lined with restaurants, cafes, and art galleries. At the upper part of the square is Château Ramezay, an 18th-century governor’s residence that now operates as a museum, showcasing Quebec’s history.

The old port, Vieux-Port de Montréal, is also an important part of the district. Once the commercial center of the city, it is now a beautiful pedestrian area.

Notre-Dame Basilica

Located in the Old Town on the famous Place d’Armes square, this church is a unique architectural masterpiece.

The basilica was originally built in the 17th century, but due to the needs of the growing congregation, it was completely rebuilt in the 1820s. The new church was designed by James O’Donnell, an Irish architect, who built it in the Neo-Gothic style.

Two huge towers rise above Montreal, one of which houses the famous Jean-Baptiste bell, one of the largest bells in North America. Inside, the Casavant Frères organ is notable, consisting of more than 7,000 pipes and is one of the world’s most significant church instruments.

Clock Tower (Tour de l’Horloge de Montréal)

Located in the Old Port (Vieux-Port) area, it is one of the most famous historical buildings in the city.

Built between 1920 and 1922, the tower pays tribute to the heroes of the Canadian Navy and also served as a lighthouse. The 45-meter-high structure made of white stone was modeled after England’s Big Ben. The tower’s clock was not just a decorative element but also showed accurate time for ships and locals for a long time.

Inside the building, a spiral staircase of 192 steps leads to the top, offering a wonderful view of the St. Lawrence River, downtown Montreal, and the Old Port area.

Near the tower is Clock Tower Beach, an artificial sandy shore that is a popular resting place for locals and tourists during the summer months.

Mont Royal Park

One of Montreal’s largest and most popular green spaces is located on Mont Royal mountain.

The park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the designer of New York’s Central Park, in the late 19th century, and has been a favorite resting place for city dwellers and tourists ever since. It covers more than 200 hectares and offers a diverse natural environment including dense forests, walking paths, open meadows, and a small lake, Beaver Lake.

Mont Royal is one of the highest points in the city and offers breathtaking views of downtown Montreal, especially from the famous Kondiaronk Lookout. One of the special events in the park is the summer Tam-Tams festival, when drummers, dancers, and artists gather at the Sir George-Étienne Cartier monument.

Jean-Talon Market

One of Montreal’s largest and most vibrant markets is located in the Little Italy (Petite Italie) district.

Numerous bakeries, cheese shops, butcher shops, and fish markets operate here, as well as stalls selling authentic Quebec and international foods. One of the most popular places among visitors is the poutine vendors, where you can taste the famous Canadian dish of fried potatoes topped with cheese and brown sauce.

Saint Joseph’s Oratory

The huge basilica is one of the most important pilgrimage sites not only in Quebec but in all of Canada.

The sanctuary was founded by Brother André (Frère André), a humble and deeply religious Montreal monk in the early 20th century. He was known for his devotion to Saint Joseph, and according to many believers, he performed miraculous healings. Interest in the building, which started as a small chapel, grew rapidly, so in 1924 they began building a larger church, which was finally completed in 1967.

Its dome is 97 meters high, making it one of the largest church domes in the world, and dominates the cityscape. A Calvary-like staircase leads up to the basilica, part of which some believers climb on their knees to express their faith and respect for Saint Joseph. Inside the oratory is a special candle chapel where visitors leave many thanksgiving messages and prayers.

Montreal’s Underground City (RÉSO)

One of the world’s largest underground complexes encompasses more than 32 km of interconnected tunnels and passage systems.

It was created in the 1960s when Jean Drapeau, Montreal’s mayor at the time, and urbanist Vincent Ponte envisioned a system that would provide protection against the city’s extreme winter weather. The metro network, opened in 1966, significantly contributed to the expansion of the system, as the new underpasses connected different parts of the city.

It houses more than 1,600 shops, 200 restaurants, and numerous cultural venues. The system connects seven metro stations and is used by more than 500,000 people daily, especially in winter when temperatures often drop below -20°C.

Botanical Garden (Jardin Botanique)

One of Canada’s largest and most beautiful botanical gardens boasts one of the world’s most outstanding botanical collections.

Founded in 1931, it was established at the initiative of the famous botanist, Frère Marie-Victorin. It is extremely diverse and consists of several thematic gardens designed according to different climate zones and horticultural styles:

Chinese Garden (Jardin de Chine): One of the largest Chinese gardens outside China, evoking the beauty of Chinese landscape architecture with traditional pavilions, small bridges, and ponds. The autumn Lantern Festival is particularly spectacular when colorful lanterns decorate the garden.

Japanese Garden (Jardin Japonais): A calm, minimalist space following the traditions of Japanese garden design. Stone gardens, bonsai trees, and a tea pavilion make it special.

French Garden (Jardin des Plantes et des Parfums): A classic French-style garden that enchants visitors with its symmetrical arrangement and fragrant plants.

First Nations Garden (Jardin des Premières-Nations): A garden showcasing the traditional plants and healing herbs of Canadian natives, introducing the plant usage customs of indigenous cultures.

Greenhouses: Indoor exhibitions feature tropical plants, orchids, cacti, and exotic species that can be visited in winter as well.

All information can be found here!

Biodome de Montréal

The biodome showcases different ecosystems of the world in an enclosed space.

Built for the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, its specialty is that visitors can explore five different climates and ecosystems without leaving the space:

Tundra: A section showcasing the plants and animals of cold, harsh northern landscapes, where freezing wind and snow cover the landscape. Visitors can encounter arctic wolves and tundra birds.

Rainforest: They create a tropical rainforest where exotic plants such as bamboo, orchids, and palm trees can be found. The warm and humid environment is ideal for various tropical animals like monkeys, snakes, and pygmy deer.

Wetlands: A section showcasing the plants and animals of marshy, wet areas, where beavers and various aquatic animals such as mirror ducks live.

Highlands: A section imitating alpine landscape, where visitors can meet Ural rabbits, wild boars, and other high mountain animals.

Ocean: A section showcasing the ocean environment and the creatures living in it, where penguins, seals, and other marine animals live, while we can also observe underwater wildlife.

All information can be found here!

Museum of Fine Arts (Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal)

It ranks among Canada’s largest art museums.

The museum was founded by Archibald Lampman, one of Montreal’s most renowned patrons of culture and art. The first exhibitions were held in 1860, and the museum has been continuously expanding since then. It builds on three main collections:

Canadian Arts: The museum preserves works by significant Canadian painters, sculptors, and graphic artists. Particularly noteworthy is the art of Canadian natives, which presents the traditions and history of local cultures.

European Arts: It contains works by many famous artists, including Rembrandt, Rubens, Van Gogh, Monet, and Renoir. The European arts wing features notable Renaissance and Baroque painting, as well as 19th-century Impressionism.

Intercultural Arts: The newer wings increasingly focus on global arts and artistic traditions of different cultures. Indian, African, Asian, and Latin American artworks enrich the museum’s collection.

Toronto is a true multicultural city with numerous attractions. If you’re in Canada, don’t miss it!

Canada’s largest city is one of the world’s most multicultural cities. It is located on the shore of Lake Ontario, the easternmost of the five Great Lakes.

Toronto attractions

CN Tower

Toronto’s symbol is the tower that can be seen from almost everywhere.

It was built between 1973 and 1976 to demonstrate the strength of industry. At the time of its construction, it was the world’s tallest free-standing tower with its height of 553.3 meters, a title it held until 2007.

There are four observation levels that can be visited in the tower. At 342 meters, you’ll find the Glass Floor and the Outdoor Observation Deck. On the latter, you can experience the weather at this height, while at the former, you can test your courage by walking on 6 cm thick glass panels measuring approximately 100×130 cm.

At 346 meters is the Horizons Café for casual dining and the Indoor Observation Deck (‘Look Out’ level), which the elevator reaches in 58 seconds. At 351 meters, there is the globe-shaped rotating restaurant. For dining guests, the floor makes a complete rotation every 72 minutes, allowing them to enjoy uninterrupted views of the city below and Lake Ontario.

Yonge-Dundas Square

One of Toronto’s main public squares, often called „Canada’s Times Square”.

It features huge digital billboards and modern urban design, creating a special atmosphere. It’s always bustling, as the area is surrounded by numerous shops, cinemas, theaters, restaurants, and shopping centers.

Yonge Street, located here, is one of the world’s longest streets. It starts at the shore of Lake Ontario and stretches northward for hundreds of kilometers.

St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica

Toronto’s most significant church is located near Yonge-Dundas Square.

The Catholic church was built in Gothic Revival style and is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto. Construction began in the mid-1840s and took several decades to complete, finally being consecrated in 1866.

Its specialty is the beautiful interior, which features an ornate altar, colorful windows, and wonderful ceiling frescoes. Its most notable element is the main altar, which is the central symbol of the church.

Gooderham Building

Commonly known as the Flatiron Building, it is one of the city’s most famous historical buildings.

Built at the end of the 19th century in 1892, its unique triangular structure makes it an iconic attraction in the city’s St. Lawrence district. The building was commissioned by George Gooderham, a famous Toronto businessman and owner of the Gooderham & Worts whisky distillery, and originally functioned as an office building.

Architecturally, it combines Victorian and Renaissance influences. One of the most well-known parts of the building is the trompe-l’œil mural on the back wall, which creates an optical illusion as if the wall is open.

Distillery District

One of Toronto’s most charming and unique neighborhoods got its name from whisky production.

Once home to the Gooderham & Worts distillery, which was considered the world’s largest whisky factory, the 19th-century industrial buildings still maintain their original red brick atmosphere. The carefully restored district is now a car-free zone where you can explore contemporary art galleries, designer boutiques, cafés, and excellent restaurants while walking on cobblestone streets.

One of the most popular places is the Spirit of York Distillery, where you can taste local craft spirits, or the famous Balzac’s Coffee Roasters, which is a charming café created from an industrial building.

It’s especially popular during the winter season when the Toronto Christmas Market is held. During this time, the streets are adorned with festive lights, the scent of hot chocolate and punch fills the air, and Christmas stalls offer their goods.

High Park

Toronto’s largest and most popular urban park spans over 160 hectares in the western part of the city.

The vast green space features lakes, wooded trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, and botanical gardens for visitors. One of the park’s most famous attractions is the grove of Sakura cherry trees, which attracts particularly large crowds during the spring blooming season.

The park also has a small zoo, which is free to visit, and where you can see animals such as bison, ponies, and llamas.

St. Lawrence Market

One of Toronto’s oldest and most famous markets has been operating since 1803.

It consists of three main parts: the South Market, where more than 100 vendors offer fresh vegetables, fruits, cheeses, meats, baked goods, and seafood; the North Market, which hosts a farmers’ market on certain days of the week and the famous antique market on Saturdays; and St. Lawrence Hall, which is a historic building and event center.

Among the many foods, the peameal bacon sandwich stands out – Canadian bacon coated in cornmeal and grilled.

Hanlan’s Point Beach

One of Toronto’s most popular and beautiful beaches is located on the city’s Toronto Island archipelago.

The walking paths, rest areas, and bicycle routes connecting to other parts of the island provide opportunities to explore nature. The beach offers a great view of the city and Lake Ontario.

Toronto Zoo

Canada’s largest zoo is home to more than 5,000 animals and showcases various habitats from around the world across a vast 287-hectare area.

The zoo is divided into seven geographic zones representing the wildlife of each continent. The most popular sections include the African Savanna, where you can see giraffes, lions, and rhinoceroses; the Indo–Malaya region, home to orangutans and tigers; and the Canadian Wildlife zone, which features polar bears, moose, and beavers.

One of the zoo’s special attractions is the Panda Pavilion, which at one time was home to giant pandas and was very popular.

All information can be found here!

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

Located at the foot of the CN Tower, the aquarium is home to more than 20,000 marine creatures.

One of its most impressive parts is the Dangerous Lagoon, a glass tunnel with a moving walkway that allows visitors to walk directly under sharks, rays, and turtles. The Ocean Realm showcases creatures in huge glass tanks.

One of the aquarium’s special attractions is Ray Bay, where you can observe giant rays and even touch them in the interactive „Touch Tank” pool.

All information can be found here!

Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)

One of Canada’s largest museums showcases world cultures and natural history.

Its collection encompasses more than 13 million artifacts. The museum’s most famous sections include the dinosaur hall, where huge prehistoric skeletons can be viewed; one of the world’s most significant collections of Chinese and Egyptian artifacts; and exhibitions showcasing Canadian indigenous cultures.

In the natural science galleries, rare minerals, meteorites, and fossils can be admired, while in the interactive zones, you can get up close with the exciting worlds of science and history.

All information can be found here!

Casa Loma

The wonderful neo-Gothic castle is located on a hilltop in the northern part of the city.

The castle was built by Sir Henry Pellatt, a wealthy businessman, in the 1910s, but due to its enormous costs, he never really got to enjoy it. The building now functions as a museum and offers insight into the world of luxury and opulence of the early 20th century.

It consists of 98 rooms, making it one of Canada’s largest private residences. Visitors can explore the lavishly furnished rooms, such as the Great Ballroom with its 18-meter-high ceiling, or the Library, which once housed more than 10,000 books. The castle also hides secret corridors and tunnels. One of its most impressive parts is the tower lookout, which offers an unparalleled panorama of Toronto.

The castle is also a popular filming location and has appeared in numerous Hollywood productions, including X-Men and Harry Potter films.

The downtown museum houses more than 90,000 artworks, and its collection spans from classical European masters to contemporary Canadian artists.

One of its most well-known sections is the Canadian art collection, which pays special attention to indigenous art and the works of the famous Canadian painting group, the Group of Seven. Additionally, visitors can admire works by world-famous artists such as Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Picasso, and Monet.

The museum is also architecturally special. The 2008 expansion was designed by Frank Gehry, the world-renowned Canadian-American architect, who added modern, undulating glass and wood motifs to the building, which is now one of Toronto’s iconic attractions.

Canada is a great mix of nature and cozy towns. Due to its vast area, there are plenty of sights to see in the country!

Canada spans most of the North American continent, stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. It is the second-largest country in the world by area after Russia, and it shares borders with the United States to the south and northwest.

Vancouver

Located on the Pacific Ocean coast between Burrard Inlet and the Fraser River, it is considered one of the most livable cities in the world. It was named after British explorer George Vancouver, who mapped the region in the 1790s.

Here you will find one of Canada’s largest and most famous urban parks, Stanley Park. It covers about 405 hectares and offers several attractions and activities. These include the famous Seawall walkway and the Vancouver Aquarium. The latter is one of the largest and most visited aquariums in North America.

The most authentic district is Gastown. Founded in the 1860s, this neighborhood is famous for its cobblestone streets, Victorian buildings, and cozy cafes and restaurants. Its central attraction is the famous steam clock, which whistles and releases steam every quarter hour to mark the time.

Niagara Falls

This massive waterfall complex on the Niagara River is located on the border between Canada and the United States.

It consists of two main parts, separated by Goat Island: the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side and the American Falls on the American side. It is only 51 meters high, but its width makes it monumental.

The best view is from the Canadian side. From the Skylon Tower observation deck, you can marvel at the falls from a height of 236 meters.

Quebec

Located on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, it is one of Canada’s oldest and most beautiful cities, a center of French culture and history.

Quebec was founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain. This is still evident in Vieux-Québec, the old town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The upper and lower parts are connected by the famous Funiculaire, a mountain cable car.

Its most famous building is Château Frontenac, a grand hotel that towers over the city. The hotel opened in 1893 and has since become an iconic symbol. The building offers spectacular views of the St. Lawrence River and the surrounding areas.

Quebec is known for its vibrant cultural life: numerous festivals, art events, and music performances are held. The most famous is the Carnaval de Québec, the largest winter festival in North America. Another is the Festival d’été de Québec, a summer music festival featuring international and local artists in various genres.

Canada’s first and one of its most famous national parks is located in the Rocky Mountains.

One of the park’s most renowned and spectacular spots is Lake Louise, a beautiful turquoise lake fed by the Victoria Glacier. The lookout points around the lake offer stunning views of the glacier and surrounding mountains. In winter, it also serves as an ice rink.

Moraine Lake is located in the Valley of the Ten Peaks and is one of the most photographed lakes in the world. The hiking trails around the lake, such as the Rockpile Trail, offer breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding mountain peaks.

The park is named after the town of Banff, located in the central part, which is an excellent starting point for exploring the park.

One of its most famous and beautiful lakes is Maligne Lake. Its beauty is primarily attributed to the small island in the lake, Spirit Island. The Athabasca Falls is also a popular hiking spot worth visiting.

The most spectacular natural feature is the Columbia Icefield in the southern part of the park. It is one of the largest icefields in North America and the source of several glaciers. The nearby Skywalk observation deck offers a stunning panorama of the icefield.

It was founded in 1642 by French settlers and quickly became an important commercial and cultural center. The city’s history is deeply rooted in French and English colonial pasts, which is still reflected today in its linguistic and cultural diversity. Montreal is a bilingual city where French is the primary language, but English is also widely spoken.

The city’s historic district is Vieux-Montreal. Major attractions include the Notre-Dame Basilica, Place Jacques-Cartier, and the Old Port.

Its namesake peak, Gros Morne, offers excellent hiking opportunities. The Gros Morne Mountain Trail is a challenging yet rewarding hike leading to the summit, providing spectacular views of the surrounding landscape and the Long Range Mountains.

One of its most famous attractions is the Western Brook Pond, a stunning fjord surrounded by steep cliffs and waterfalls. Boat tours on the fjord allow visitors to admire the area from the water.

The park features a unique geological formation known as the Tablelands. This area resembles a Martian landscape. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that a portion of the Earth’s mantle, typically found deep beneath the crust, is exposed here.

Cape Breton Island

Located on Canada’s eastern coastline, it is one of the country’s most picturesque places.

Its coastline is heavily indented, primarily with fjords. The largest lake is Bras d’Or Lake on the southern shore, which connects to the ocean and thus has slightly salty water. The largest freshwater lake is Lake Ainslie.

The island’s beauty can also be explored by car. The Cabot Trail stretches about 300 kilometers along the island’s northern part, offering stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, mountains, and forests. The route provides numerous lookout points, hiking trails, and cultural stops, including the famous Skyline Trail, which offers magnificent coastal panoramas.

Its most famous landmark is Parliament Hill, where the buildings of the Canadian Parliament are located, including the iconic Peace Tower. You can also witness the Changing of the Guard ceremony.

The Rideau Canal starts in Ottawa. This 202 km long waterway connects Ottawa with Kingston, which lies on the shore of Lake Ontario. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with most of its original structures intact. Today, the canal is primarily used for recreational boating.

One of the bay’s most famous attractions is the Hopewell Rocks, where you can see large rock formations shaped by sea erosion. At low tide, you can walk on the sea floor, while at high tide, the rocks are almost completely submerged.

Yoho National Park

The park borders Banff and Kootenay National Parks and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage sites of the Canadian Rockies.

Founded in 1886, its name comes from the Cree word „yoho” which means awe or wonder. This name perfectly fits the park’s stunning natural landscapes, which include mountains, waterfalls, lakes, and glaciers.

Takakkaw Falls is one of Canada’s highest waterfalls, plunging from over 300 meters. The falls are easily accessible and provide a breathtaking sight, especially during the summer months when the water flow is at its peak. There are numerous hiking trails in the area.

Emerald Lake is one of the park’s most spectacular lakes, famous for its deep green color caused by fine rock flour suspended in the water.

Churchill

This town on the shores of Hudson Bay is often referred to as the „polar bear capital of the world”.

In the fall, polar bears wait for Hudson Bay to freeze over so they can return to the ice to hunt. During this time, they can be observed up close on tours from the town using specialized vehicles called tundra buggies.

The town also features a museum dedicated to the Inuit. It showcases Inuit artworks, tools, and other items that provide insight into indigenous cultures and lifestyles.

Churchill is also an excellent location for viewing the northern lights, especially during the winter months.
